SEA’s annual “Changemakers Tour” is a week-long intensive and immersive educational and leadership program to promote civic engagement and participation. Each summer, this tour brings together SEA high school students to learn about a specific issue or challenge that impacts vulnerable communities. Students meet luminaries in the field and participate in experiential learning activities to better understand the operations and impact of civic engagement. This year’s theme for the Changemakers Tour is food insecurity.

Our 2024 tour will begin July 7 in Washington, DC and culminate in New York City on July 12. The itinerary will include meetings with elected officials and political leaders that influence SNAP and agricultural policy initiatives, media outlets that inform and educate the public on food insecurity and related matters, and community leaders that can speak to ways they engage with individuals and communities facing this issue. Students will have the opportunity to play squash at SEA facilities and other local courts and represent the core principles of the Squash and Education Alliance as they make their mark in history.
