Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
We work to enable and empower our students to access and succeed in high-quality educational, athletic and career opportunities.
We recognize that there are systemic policies and practices in our country and around the world that disadvantage low-income communities and people of color, and perpetuate disparity. These realities impact the lived experiences of our students, staff, and board members, and influence our organization as a whole.
We believe in the importance of creating a network-wide culture that celebrates, respects, and embodies the values of diversity, equity and inclusion.
Representation: Our programming, staff, and board members should reflect the diverse demographics and values of all our communities.
Access: Our programs should increase access to opportunities for growth and leadership for all community members.
Inclusiveness: Our offerings should empower all people to fully express their identities and contribute meaningfully.
We acknowledge our challenges and mistakes, and as an organization we know we must continuously seek to improve. We engage leaders and staff members in our network to gain a better understanding of the challenges and opportunities we face and to help our member organizations and SEA do better in these areas.
