TUITION, FEES, ADDITIONAL COSTS
NUSEA has partnered with Miss Porter’s School to offer 4 places to urban squash girls in Miss Porter’s Summer Program at a scholarship rate. The 3-week experience, which includes room and board, activities and trips, and academic classes, is worth $3,750 per student.
Member Programs should be prepared to contribute $750 for each student accepted in addition to travel costs. There may be additional costs for books, supplies, lab fees, and personal spending money.
Please note that Miss Porter’s will require that the family of each scholarship recipient provide (1) Copies of 2014 or 2015 IRS 1040 Forms and (2) Copies of Supporting W-2 Forms and/or 1099 Forms from the same year as the IRS 1040 Form. It is very important that this is clear to your students’ families before you make your nominations – they must be willing to disclose financial information and able to provide supporting documentation.
NUSEA will provide a $100 stipend for airfare if necessary.
NOMINATION
Each program may nominate one girl for a scholarship. All nominees must currently be in 6th, 7th or 8th grade.
Please only nominate students who you believe are highly motivated, academically capable and strongly considering an all-girls private school for high school. Girls must be eager to experience Porter’s rigorous and engaging academic, artistic, athletic and residential curriculum and community.
Member Programs must submit the following information for each nominated student to NUSEA on or before December 15, 2015:
1. Nomination Form (submitted online) – on this form, a staff member must be designated as the advisor/point person for each nominee’s application process.
2. Parental Consent Form
3. Two most recent report cards
4. One page student essay on what the word “Leadership” means to her and why she is interested in attending Miss Porter’s Summer Programs.
5. Program Recommendation: A statement of no more than 400 words written by a staff member that describes the nominee, her special qualities, her interest level in an all-girls boarding school, and reasons why Miss Porter’s would be an ideal learning setting for the student.
Items 2-5 should all be submitted as attachments in one email to: alana.lerner@squashandeducation.org
SELECTION and APPLICATION
NUSEA will announce the four nominees who have been chosen for Miss Porter’s Summer Program. Selected nominees will then be required to submit tax forms for the financial aid process.
